Walter here is an excellent applicant, so don't worry if your resume doesn't fill out quite like his. He's good at sports, good at journalism, and participates in community service programs. Dividing up the extracurricular activities accentuates all these things, and his work experience backs up his strength in journalism and his interest in English. When listing activities or awards, list the things that you've done the longest or look most "impressive" first.

Now let's take a look at our second applicant.
